The Key Club of Cypress Creek High School met on 9/23/2020 at 3:00 PM on Zoom .
Eshitha Bangray is the meeting Chairperson, Kevin Lam is the meeting Secretary, and the Adult Advisor is William Lally . The following members were present at this meeting: 34 . The following members were not present: 41 . No one was a guest at this meeting. President Eshitha started the meeting by greeting and thanking all participants who attended the Zoom meeting. President Eshitha invited all participants to join a Kahoot quiz about Key Club. She led the quiz and explained each answer thoroughly. The winner of the Kahoot won a free Key Club shirt (Amani Ansari). Next, Vice President Athira Nair introduced herself and recapped our summer activities as a club. She described our COVID-19 shirt project, saying that it was a huge success and we raised over $300 for the Houston Food Bank. Other activities included our canned food drive and letters to healthcare workers. Events Coordinator Mariana Santos introduced herself and explained Key Club’s mission statement and goal to improve the lives of not just our local community, but for people around the globe. She then gave information on Key Club’s local to international hierarchy and noted Key Club’s international presence. Spirit Chair Vincent Pham then followed up on Mariana’s message, including his own personal reasons for joining Key Club. He speaks on the friendships that he has made while volunteering, while also adding information about college admissions and the benefits of volunteer hours. Then, Junior Representative Maddy Pokluda introduced herself and stated that membership applications are due on October 9 th and can be found on the Key Club website and on Remind. The membership fee is $20 plus $15 for the optional shirt. Secretary Kevin Lam introduced himself and told members about Cypress Creek Key Club’s main form of communication between officers and members: Remind. He urged members to join the Remind and elaborated that meeting slides, volunteer opportunities, and more would be sent through Remind. Webmaster Andrew Bolden introduced himself and showed a preview of our website. He explained how and where to find the membership application. Historian Derek Nguyen introduced himself and our first volunteer opportunity, distributing groceries and resources to our local Houston community. The event would be on October 10th , and the sign up was on the meeting slides. He also said that carpooling would be ½ hours per person driven. Editor Amani Ansari introduced herself and our second volunteer opportunity: Notes of Hope for March of Dimes. https://www.marchofdimes.org/volunteers/send-a-note.aspx Sophomore Representative Sophia Nguyen introduced herself and our third volunteer opportunity: the UNICEF Quiz. https://goo.gl/4eLXKi Spirit Chair Vincent preached the importance of wearing a mask to all in-person volunteer events. Hours Secretary Stephanie then explained how to submit hours. Members would take a picture of them volunteering and send the picture and necessary information to our Hours Secretary. Historian Derek added that for ½ hours, members can follow our Instagram and Twitter. Finally, Vice President Athira showed the meeting sign out link and encouraged participants to complete their membership application as quickly as possible. President Eshitha thanked all members again for attending the meeting and ended the Zoom conference.
